Liat Sadler holds a Bachelor's with honors from the University of Michigan and a Master's degree from the London School of Economics. She graduated cum laude from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, which she attended in New York City. She is certified by the State Bar of California as a specialist in family law.
For several years, she managed a nonprofit organization in the Bay area and then decided to pursue a career in law. She worked as a legal assistant and was honored with a full scholarship to attend law school. She served as a law clerk for a federal magistrate judge in federal court in New York, a federal Special Master in Washington, D.C. and the New Jersey State Attorney's Office in Newark.
After law school, Liat returned to the Bay area and opened her San Francisco family law office. Since then, her practice has served clients throughout the region, including San Francisco, Marin, Sonoma, Napa, Alameda, San Mateo, and Contra Costa counties.
Liat is an experienced trial lawyer with a particular focus on litigating breach of fiduciary duty claims in complex family law matters. She has represented clients through contested hearings and trials involving mismanagement and nondisclosure of marital assets, self-dealing, and other breaches of fiduciary obligations between spouses, bringing the same rigor to the courtroom that she brings to negotiation and mediation.
She has served on the Executive Committee of the Family Law Section of the Bar Association of San Francisco as the Education Chair. She coordinated trainings for family lawyers in San Francisco, organizing seminars on a wide range of topics, including the intersections between bankruptcy and family law, complex tax issues in family law proceedings, the use of computer forensics in family law proceedings, child sexual abuse in custody cases, and recent updates in the law on domestic violence. She conducted trainings for family law trial lawyers about family law appeals for the Bar Association of San Francisco and the State Bar of California.
Liat was born in Israel and grew up in Dallas, Texas. She has lived in the Bay area for over 20 years. She loves to run and hang out with her family and is a practitioner of mindfulness and meditation, which she brings with her to the practice of family law.
